    • Born Winchester England
    • Father’s military career required the family move to Germany, Spain, Ireland and various bases in the United Kingdom. Dark German forests, deserted Spanish coastline and burbling Irish streams form a baseline visual memory bank that is later added to by international travel.


1965  Arrived NZ as a teen.  NZ life begins on a Wairarapa sheep farm. Family settles in Nelson. 1968–1970  Christchurch Teacher Training College
1971–1971 Okaihau, Northland primary teaching 1972–1974  Canterbury University. Bachelor of Arts
1974–1975 art student of Wellington artist Tony Lane 1974–1975 Black & white art photography utilising own dark room
1976–1977   traveled “the trail of faded denim” Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma,India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey Greece, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, France, England, Scotland and Wales. 1979–1980  Victoria University – Masters of Social Work.
Wellington photographic competition winner 1981–1983  Social worker and family therapist
1983–1987  family therapist in private practice, Taranaki. Amateur theatre Taranaki.  Began buying original contemporary art and sculpture. 1987–1989  Returned  to Nelson. Senior Mental Health Social Worker.  Art photography features more nature
1989–1995  lecturer Massey University 1995 – 1997  Mid Central District Health Board. Clinical Directorate
1998 – 2009  Director Mark Tisdall & Associates, Pukeko Ltd, Communication Unlimited. Time divided between delivering training & facilitation and developing an art practice.




1998 “First Impressions” Solo exhibition PN Library mentored by NZ print maker Jacqueline Aust, and supported by Australian artist Duncan Chatwin 1998 Square Edge Studio shared work space
1999 Established Rocket Studios, Palmerston North, with artists Liz Knapp, Mayan Schrader and Olwen   McKerras. 1999 Creative NZ funded two short films with Christchurch based multimedia artist, Jim Cullinane.
2000 Selected for the Governor General Art Award NZ Fine Arts Academy, Wellington 2001 Finalist Norsewear Art Awards, Hawkes Bay.
2001 Opened own art studio in rural Manawatu 2003 “The Transparent Man” Joint exhibition Thermostat Gallery, Palmerston North
2004 Tuition in encaustics with Auckland artist, Jill Sorenson Bee keeping & art practice fused!. 2008 & 2011 Taranaki Art Awards
